A five-acre bluff-top city park south of downtown Hannibal with the kind of sweeping Mississippi view Mark Twain grew up staring at -- legend holds two star-crossed lovers from rival tribes jumped rather than be kept apart, giving the overlook its name and its ghost story.
Graham Cave State ParkA short trail reaches the broad rock shelter where excavations documented human occupation as far back as 10,000 years. Wayside exhibits explain the archaeology, while surrounding glades preserve the dry, rocky plant communities early inhabitants knew.
Klondike ParkWalk the white silica-sand edge of a former quarry lake, then climb the bluff trail for Missouri River views or connect directly to the Katy Trail. The lake supports fishing and nonmotorized paddling, but swimming is prohibited.
Powell GardensPair seasonal gardens and native prairie plantings with three organic-design structures by E. Fay Jones, including the Marjorie Powell Allen Chapel. The expansive property rewards a longer leg stretch, but admission and operating days vary by season.

The grounds are self-guided during daylight, but house and battlefield tours follow a seasonal schedule.
