Roamward
Privacy Policy
Last updated June 16, 2026
Roamward collects only what it needs to make the product work — verify the stops you actually reach, color your map, and personalize suggestions. We do not sell your data, we use no third-party advertising trackers, and your raw location is never sold.
What we collect
- Location. During an active trip, Roamward uses your device location to detect state crossings, capitals, and stop arrivals so it can verify them. Background collection happens only while a trip is active.
- Account & identifiers. An anonymous account is created on first launch; if you choose “Save your map,” we store the Apple or Google identifier (and email, if you share it) so your map follows you across devices.
- Usage. Saves, passes, planned trips, and recommendation interactions help personalize the gems you see and improve the product.
How we use it
To verify travel and award states, capitals, and badges; to plan and personalize routes and recommendations; to enable collaborative trips and shared journals you opt into; and to improve Roamward. We do not use your data for cross-app or cross-site advertising, and we run no third-party ad SDKs.
Retention & minimization
Raw location samples are kept only long enough to verify your travel and are then collapsed into derived artifacts (which states and places you reached, your points). Raw location is never sold. Any future aggregate travel analytics use de-identified, k-anonymized data in a separate layer — never your raw track.
Sharing
Public profiles and shared trips are opt-in. A public profile shows aggregates only (your colored map, badges, and counts) — never your check-in locations, timing, or live trip status. On a shared trip, members see the shared plan and journal, never each other’s private location history.
Your controls
- Export. Download all of your data as JSON from your Profile.
- Delete. Reset your Roamward data (map, trips, check-ins, points, badges) at any time from your Profile.
- Public toggle. Your profile is private by default; you choose if and when to make it public.
Children
Roamward is intended for users 13 and older, and we ask you to confirm this before you begin.
