Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park (redwood grove)

California

TypeOutdoors
CategoryTrails Hikes

Thousand-year-old coast redwoods line the Big Sur River a half-mile off the highway — the park that gave the whole region its name, and the most accessible old-growth grove on the drive without a long hike (the Pfeiffer Falls/Valley View loop is an easy add-on).

Roamward's existing Pfeiffer Beach entry is a different, unrelated park (Pfeiffer Beach is off Sycamore Canyon Road, this is the state park proper on Highway 1) — adding the redwood grove closes an obvious 'namesake park' gap and gives the corridor its one true ancient-forest stop.
